Agreed; the writing is culturally bland in a way that presumes white as a default, and the race categories they give you in character creation (Fallout 3, Fallout New Vegas) don't offer a lot of options. And even then, the limited character creation options mean that we don't get a great range of skin tones or facial features. Amata and her father are listed as 'Hispanic,' and we have 'Old Lady' Palmer listed as 'African-American,' and I don't want to erase Afrolatinx people either but boy the game sure doesn't make a lot of distinctions!
I also have a bone to pick with the portrayal of the 'tribals' in Honest Hearts and the entire Pitt DLC, but UGH. That's a whole lot of replaying that I don't really have the time or interest in at the moment. :'(
